A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by state president Babulal Marandi, today met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum regarding two pressing issues in the state. The delegation urged the Governor to order a CBI investigation into the alleged police encounter of Surya Hansda, described as a planned killing, and to impose an immediate halt to the proposed construction of RIMS-II hospital on fertile agricultural land in Nagdi.

The delegation included working president Ravindra Kumar Rai, state secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Prasad Sahu, vice-president Rakesh Prasad, Ranchi MLA C.P. Singh, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal, and other senior leaders.

In the Surya Hansda case, the BJP alleged that the 11 August 2025 encounter in Godda district was a premeditated killing. The party maintained that Hansda was not a criminal but a socially and politically active tribal leader involved in the education and welfare of underprivileged tribal children. The memorandum pointed out that despite police portraying Hansda as a hardened criminal, he had not been convicted by any court, and of 24 cases cited by the police, 14 had been dismissed. The BJP demanded a CBI investigation and strict action against the perpetrators, along with security provisions for Hansda’s family and legal representatives.

Regarding the RIMS-II land issue, the BJP highlighted the state government’s attempt to acquire fertile, tribal-owned rait land in Nagdi for hospital construction, calling it illegal and unjust. The memorandum cited the 24 August 2025 police action against farmers and tribal residents, including lathi-charge and tear gas, and noted that former Chief Minister Champai Soren was placed under house arrest while visiting the site. The party stressed that the government could construct the hospital on non-agricultural land, protecting farmers’ livelihoods and ensuring justice.

The BJP delegation requested the Governor to direct the state government to take appropriate action on both matters.
